"The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the promotion of E-Learning University of Athens (UoA) on a global level.”
As agreed in March 2023, following a meeting between officials from the General Secretariat and E-Learning UoA, Public Diplomacy has been utilized for the promotion and advancement of Greek culture, studies, and the Greek language through the E-Learning activities of the University of Athens. Our Diplomatic and Consular Missions and the Greek diaspora have been mobilized for the wider promotion of the program.
The program's journey has been successful thus far, with a noteworthy case in the field of Classical Greek ("Classical Greek - Level Α"), which began in October 2022 and attracted 120 participants from around the world (USA, Australia, Canada, India, United Kingdom, etc.).
Enrolled students learn ancient Greek remotely and can obtain a Continuing Education Certificate from the University. Similar educational programs are offered for the Greek diaspora and Greeks living abroad, and of course for people of foreign nationalities. These programs provide the opportunity to discover the roots of the language and culture that have influenced humanity from antiquity to the present and provide links with contemporary Greece.
The University of Athens E-Learning program, through a user-friendly educational platform that utilizes and incorporates up-to-date educational technology, has had a dynamic presence since 2001. It offers more than 490 programs, with 47 of them available in English, covering a wide range of knowledge fields.
