Dr Spyridon Kanellakis has graduated from the department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Technical Eduatational Institute of Crete and from the department of Psychology of the Philosophy School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He obtained his MSc degree with commendation in Human Nutrition and Metabolism from the School of Medicine and Therapeutics of the University of Aberdeen and his PhD in Nutritional Education and Nutritional Assessment from the Department of Science of Nutrition and Dietetics from the Harokopio University of Athens. Currently he works as a Post Doctoral Researcher in the Field of body composition and body image perceptions and as Dietitian and Psychologist in his private practice. For the last 5 years he also teaches as guest lecturer in the fields of Nutritional Assessment, Nutritional Education, Childhood Nutrition, Childhood Clinical Nutrition and Psychological interventions in the treatment of obesity, in MSc courses of Harokopio University, of the Medical School of the University of Thessaly, the Medical School of the University of Patras and the European University of Cyprus. As Scientific Consultant of Nutriscience Company he has designed and implemented several Nutrition Education programmes around Greece. As President of the Union of Dietitians and Nutritionists, for the last 5 years, he has actively participated in several committees in Greece and Europe regarding nutrition education programmes and National Health Issues. He has been invited as speaker in several Conferences in Greece and Europe and has published 16 research papers with 196 citations and has h-index 7.
